The Best Friend: Tanya Paul

Soo.. everyone has their own best friend, and each is special in their own way. People are so different from one another, with different thought, different opinions it becomes difficult to find people you can get along with and when you do find one, they become an inseparable part of your life.

About my Best Friend I would really like to give everyone a heads-up that she is nothing like me and everything like me. Confusing huh!.. well that's exactly how we are.

When someone said that True friends never leave your side, I am almost certain they were either talking about Tanya or at least someone like her.

I will tell you what Tanya is in our life (me an other friends) she is like "FEVICOL".

She keeps us together, simple. So I'll share this one incident, I hadn't met Upamanyu (another friend) in months and we weren't really even planning to, infact we hadn't even spoken to each other in months. So one day Tanya starts nagging us.. "Kittu lets meet up naa.." "Mannu (upamanyu) mil lena yaar".. and precisely after 7 days of non-stop nagging, we met.. Tanya, Upamanyu & Me.. and we had such a great time that I couldn't remember why I hadn't thought of catching up sooner, and you know since then Upamanyu and I haven't lost touch. We have to thank Tanya for that, if she didn't always talk us into meeting up we would all get busy in our own lives and die of boredom.

So that's like one thing about Tanya there are so many more. She is this crazy romantic girl, who makes you believe in all the fairy tales again. You know once after a break-up I was so sore at heart that I just couldn't get over it and she always patiently listened to all the babbling and then so easily she stated a fact, "Kittu he broke your heart why are you still crying over him. I mean I know you thought he was perfect but if he doesn't value you there is no point hurting yourself for him."

After that day I made a resolution to not cry over him. Another very insightful thing she said to me was, "That if its meant to be, it will, if not .. your prince charming is out there somewhere, and he will come when the time is right.."

How could you not believe in all the fairy tales if your best friend always kept quoting them and in such a great way that they actually started making sense in real life.

So basically what I am trying to say here is that Tanya Paul, you are what makes me believe in everything about LOVE. You make be believe that I am special and that I deserve special. You are the FEVICOL of my life that makes me stick to all the good things and keeps reminding me that happiness is always there I just need to allow it to come in my life.

Thank you for being such a great friend and an inspirational Women (one that can conquer anything she sets her mind to)

The Woman of Substance: Capt. Divya Sharma

I remember being highly bored with a subject called Electronic Communication by the third year of college . . . So when I heard that there was a new teacher who going to teach us EC I was more that excited. . . So I waited intently to see if the new teacher was going to make a difference in my liking towards the subject or not . . .

Then I saw this beautiful woman walk into the class and she started introducing herself as our new teacher, for a moment I forgot that ogling someone is considered bad manners. I swear that if I were a boy I would have fallen in love her, I think I did fall in love with her anyway. (Yes! She is that gorgeous)

She is a single mom who has done a wonderful job raising her son, she is full of spirit and a kind of life and energy that is infectious. She is beauty and grace, eleance and taste. She is everything that a girl like me dreams of being when she grows up.

Over a period of time as I got to know her better, I just felt more and more mesmerized by the way she led her life.

I fall short of words when I start praising her. For me she is The Woman, the perfect image of the kind of a woman I want to be.

She is truly the Woman of Substance, The Fighter, The Bird, The Mother and The Inspiration.

Happy Women's Day Divya Ma' am Thanks for coming into my life and showing me that a woman can be everything she wants to be.

The Confident Woman: Raksha Raj (Bahadur)

Everyone remembers the first day of college for different reasons, I remember my first day in college because of her.

I remember sitting in class anxiously and waiting for the first professor to walk in, I wasnt sure how they would be, it was kind of an alien situation, not knowing what to expect.

As the bell rang I sat up straight looking at the door, and then she walked in, super confident with a marker in her hand, she went straight to the board and wrote down her number. When she turned around, she introduced herself to us and started telling us about the subject she would be teaching us.

And that was the day when I truly, really understood what it was like to see confidnce walking around. Never did onceI saw her falter or fall. She was like the perfect working woman, who was modernity combined.

She was intimidating yet intriguing, what was it that derived this woman to be so fierce as well as calm. I didnt understand at first, but after spending 3 years in Amity and observing her time and again, I think I have finally decoded her.

Her secret as far as I can guess is that she is completely aware about herself, she knew what she wanted with life, and didnt care what other wold think of her aspirations.

What ever it was that made her the woman she is I would just like to thank her for being an inspirational woman.

Thank you Raksha Ma'am for being confidence in its security, for motivating me to be the voice ready to be heard.

The Queen of Hearts: Lady Diana Spencer

So I bought this book some 3 or 4 years back, The Diana Chronicles by Tina Brown its a 481 paged story of the Princess of Wales. I completed reading this book just a few days back . . . The reason for such a delay was that everytime I turned the page I started to weep. Each chapter in this book has quotes of people close to Lady Diana. The very first said by Hassan Yassin Dodi Fayed's uncle stating that if he had a woman like Diana with he would have taken her to a jungle not the Ritz.

When I got this book I thought it would be interesting to know about the woman everybody called the Queen of People's Hearts, what I did not think it would be is the story of a lonely, who went on to be a lonely heart broken woman.

When I ask my mom how Lady Diana was when she was alive, she always said that she was the worlds most beautiful woman. I dont know where to start, when ever I think about her so many emotions engulf me that I get lost in my own thoughts.

So I think I will start from he end. The very last chapter of this biographica book is titled as 'Remember Me!' And the first few words on the page are 'Is it true that mummy is really dead?' By the little prince Harry.

How do I remember her?
.
.
.
.
When I think about her I see lights flashing and the most enchanting smile ever. I remember a woman, who chose to live for other people, I get insired from a lady who had the courage to leave royalty yet still rule on people, buy ruling on their hearts.

Diana was a regular girl with a troubling childhood, and an even more distrbing marriage. I really dont want to blame anyone since she never did, but after reading about her life I cannot stop myself from hating that pathetic excuses of men who broke her heart. I mean. . How can you cheat on a person you know is already broken.

Well whatever, so coming back to a more interesting topic. Lady Diana was an enigmatic women, but behind all the shine and glimmer was a lonely women who had an eating disorder, a disfunctinal loveless marriage, a broken heart and a troubled childhood, yet amidst all this depression she found a way to let go of everything bad and embrace happiness by trying to make others happy.

She was known for her great intense interest in serious illnesses and health-related matters outside the purview of traditional royal involvement, including AIDS and leprosy. She did a lot of charity works, visiting terminally ill people over the world, leading campaigns for animal protection, AIDS awareness and against the use of inhumane weapons.

She found that dying people had more hope than an average man, and in their hopes she found herself again.

I dont think i can wite any more about her without breaking into tears again. Just that I remember her, I remember Lady Diana as the woman who chose to be the woman that she was, she might have made mistakes but she always eventually founf a way to bounce back.

This one is to Lady Diana Spencer, TheMost Beautiful Woman ever....!!!!

The Women who Inspire Me... Women's Day Special

So I have decided to write something as a Women's Day Tribute to all the inspirational women out there, this will be a series of eight blogs each talking about some of the women who have brought some amount of light in my life.

This every first post is dedicated to 6 different women. These ladies have every recently become a part of my life that is quiet essential to me, I have developed an obsession of Greek Mythology and by that have come to know really interesting women.

The Greek Goddesses, play some very essential roles, quiet similar to the Goddesses in other religions, but what is fascinating about them is that, without their rule (or constant supervision) the male gods are just a bunch of men who believe in infidelity and fighting over stupid issues with each other.

It is because of the Greek Women that the men rise to the stature of gods.

Six of the main Goddess include:

Hera(Juno): She is the wife of Zeus, who is the king of the sky and literally the most unfaithful man ever, his heart swells at the sight of women, and Hera has to live with that. Hera (or Juno) is the goddess of marriage and fertility, she is the only goddess amongst all (gods & goddesses) who has never had an adulterous relationship. She often comes accross as a rude and extremely angry goddess, but in her defense I would like to point out that she is the god of marriage who takes the rules of this sacred bond seriously. No one ever understands what as a women Hera might be going through having to stay with a husband who claims to lover her yet sleeps with every other woman. She stays with not because she can't stay without him, but because if the goddess of marriage would leave her husband people would stop believing in happily ever afters. For me sacrifising your own happiness for the belief of others is a sign of greatness.

Demeter (Ceres): She is the Goddess of Harvest and also the greatest mother ever (like all moms). Demeter's daughter Persephone was abducted to the underworld by Hades. Demeter searched for her ceaselessly, preoccupied with her loss and her grief. The seasons halted; living things ceased their growth, then began to die. She was the first to challenge Zeus in ways that he could not reciprocate. Faced with the extinction of all life on earth, Zeus sent his messenger Hermes to the underworld to bring Persephone back. She examplifies how much mothers can do for their daughters (sons too).

Athena (Minerva): She is the Goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, just warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill. Athens was named after her, she was also known to be the protector of all Greeks (Imagine That!). Athena was involved in most of the heroic tales. Name a Greek myth, and she's probably there -- somewhere. She is like the image of a modern day woman who can do just about everything that men can and sometimes even better than them.

Persephone (Proserpina): She plays several different roles, she was a vegetation goddess before Hades abducted her, after that she came to be known as the Queen of the Underworld and later the goddess of Spring (more because Demeter did not bring life back till Persephone was returned hence the concept of spring, summer, autumn and winter). What I find extraordinary in her is her strength remain resilient no matter the situation. She was abducted by the God of the Dead yet she managed herself and also helped him in ruling the underworld, she also took her responsibility as a daughter seriously and respected her mother's feeling by leaving her husband for six months to stay with her. Now thats a good multitasker.

Aphrodite (Venus): Greek goddess of love and beauty. She was the most beautiful of the goddesses, but was married to the ugliest of the gods, the limp smithy Hephaestus. "Do you not see how mighty is the goddess Aphrodite? She sows and gives that love from which all we upon this earth are born." (Nurse of Phaedra. Euripides, Hippolytus 450).

When talking about Aphrodite people degrade to a standard thathat she is nothing but a pretty face, what they often forget is that many wars a faught for beauty and not bravery, for example the most brutal war ever, the Trojan War was a result of Paris's judgement of beauty. The city of Troy which was considered unbreachable was reduced to flames in a matter of seconds all because a boy choose beauty over.. well brains. But the point in all this is that Aphrodite is not just a beautiful women she is a women who stands for what she believes in even if that mean outter beauty. She induces love in a world of hate, what she stands for in itself is a great challenge, Love and Beauty, getting lost in the ugliness of war and hatred yet she stands firm on her resolution to spread affection.

Artemis (Diana): She was the Hellenic goddess of the hunt, wild animals, wilderness, childbirth, virginity and protector of young girls, bringing and relieving disease in women. She redefines the role of men in society by being called the protector and huntress. Artemis was known to be the best hunter ever, no man could equal her skills. She became the protector maidens, paving way for women to care and protect themselves and each other.

So these are the six awesome women who changed my outlook about the gods, no matter how powerful they may claim to be but at the end it is women who bring peace to the chaos and civilization of the wild. They can stir up as many storm as they way and once they do, no god has enough power to stop them, till they themselves choose to do so.
